Magi 2 – The Baby and the Poem

What a grand view! All laws danced together under the bright nine stars. Even the most ignorant beings in the nine realms knew that this was a sign—a divine sign that can involve all the universe.

“The nine starts are dazzling, the future of three realms shall proceed to an uncharted path, the glorious soul has descended to our universe.”

An old man muttered to himself.

“Grandpa, these stars are shining splendidly, but why you don’t look happy watching them?”

A little girl by his side asked him, she laughed and looked just like a little angel. Her hair is like a flowing stream of gold, the white skin, and a brilliant green and silver pupils—a pair of peculiar heterochromia.

The old man sighed and shook his head lightly, “Because it is the sign of unknown my little angel. And the unknown always capable to bring about uncertainty and restless in this mind. It may be a sign a great opportunity, but also it may be a sign of a disastrous cataclysm.”

“Calamity? Just like in the chaotic era of the three realms?” The face of this little girl became paler.

“Little one, you were born after the end of the tumultuous age. Both of us lost our precious ones in that cursed era. But, not like you, I have witnessed the cruelty of never-ending wars. My fear and worries born from countless life and death real experiences. If not for your master blessed us with her grace, we would never have a foothold in upper nine heavens like today.”

“Ah Master, I miss her so much.”

She was around five years old and looked so cute.

Both stared at the starry sky, where there were nine stars burn brightly continuously for nine days and nine nights.

Far away, some place in Nine Underworlds, another elderly fellow also sighed when he looked at the nine stars sparkled splendidly.

“Master, why you look so down?”

His beloved pupil, a girl around seven or eight years old, asked him curiously. Even so, her cold nature still perfectly sculpted her mien. Her black hair and dark skin with a pair of flaming red pupils make her expression like a little devilish beauty.

“I have lived for about an eon and a half, and I was fortuitous to have a chance to greet the great creator before that terrible lawlessness. He reminded me about this era, but I thought it was a quip at that moment, since he loves joking around. I never imagined if it was true, lucky, truly lucky, I formed this sheltered world before the great chaos, otherwise, I, your master almost certainly perish centuries ago. I felt, I look at his another prophecy again.”

“Is this a horrible prediction, Master?”

“The great creator didn’t tell me whether it is a bad or a good sign. Only he suggested, if I wish to win a great opportunity for my pupil, I should have her or him to a fated place somewhere in the fifth great world.”

“Do you mean, his revelation was about me?” Even for an unexpected story, her face still calm and collected. What a tranquility.

Her master only laughed and grabbed her hand, he stated, “Let’s travel, little one.”

In a small kingdom, the Glaedwine Kingdom, which just rebuilds their homeland after the war that ended less than a year ago, there was a minor house of three which soon become four.

An aristocratic family of Glaedwine Kingdom. They have expected for this very day.

On the fifth day after the initial time, nine stars shined brighter, at the peak moment when the brightest radiance covered the three realms. The fate of three realms started afresh.

‘What is this?’

‘Where am I?’

‘And who am I?’

The three questions were the dawn of a whole new journey.

Why is so dark in here? I can’t see anything. But at least here is so warm and comfy. Oh wait, it looks there is a light over there.

Suddenly, my body was propelled toward the light. A breeze of a chill and a sound of laughter welcoming me within the light. All of which caused me voluntarily cried out loud. Even after that, I felt something wrapped me within a warm and delicate cloth; I didn’t know why I can’t quit crying, I just like a natural situation for me.

Until, a calm, pure voice reached from beside me, recited the primeval word tenderly.

“What a handsome boy.” An elderly and solemn voice broke from the right.

“Of course, whose grandson do you think he is?” Another old but affectionate voice fell from the left.

“Father, mother, please don’t start it again. This is our happy moment. Let this happiness flows into our family. He shall be the sun and moon those make us never get in the dark again. He shall be the earth and the ocean, those bring about countless life spirits for us. He shall be the sky and the heaven, those shelter our future days in peace and harmony.”

What a delightful voice, what some graceful words I thought. This must be the voice of my mother. I felt warm slip into the deepest part of my soul.

Well, since I was a first-grade poetry maker, let me also offer the world with the dazzle of my gift.

“Ooaa… ooaa… ooaa….”

“Hoo…, look, he cried in happiness.”

‘What in the name of nine stars? I can’t even utter my own voice.’ And so, I heard grandfather went on to laugh merrily, but why this laugh seemed familiar? I could recall nothing before arriving in this place of light.

Something seemed lost within me. But I don’t know what. The further I sought to remember something, the more I forgot.

When I opened my eyes, I am yet able to look clearly. But I still could sense the touch, the air, the heat, and I could pick up voices and sounds.

“So, what shall we name him?” My grandmother asked all of us, excluding me I supposed.

“How about ‘Little Big Cyril’?” My grandfather still chuckling.

‘What is your mean by Little Big! A little too fat or what?’ I truly wished to shriek, ‘What an odd sound of a name, did you even seriously think a name for your own grandchild? Look how gracious I am, how can you tell little big, even a little handsome would cause me—your grandchild—lost face.’

“You can’t name him like that!” I heard my grandmother yelled, ‘Oh good grandma, love you so much.’ “See how chubby his cheeks, at least you should call him ‘Little Fatty Cyril’”

‘Eee… what?! The hell with that? How can it turn out after the pulling me up from the crocodile nest then pushing me down to tiger nest?’ I can’t even imagine what kind of family was I born into? And my future looked bleak all sudden.

“My child…” The voice of mother while she was hugging me gently, “Your noble father has left behind a name for you, Eiwa, and now we shall name you Eiwa Cyril the Son of Aloys Cyril, my little sweetheart.”

Mother…

Your son… may I file a protest? How could you wed a brainless man who prepared name for a daughter, but not for a son? Should I wear lady gown in the future?

I wanted to weep, but quickly I felt drained and drowsy. I craved for something sweet inside my mouth.

Is this… milk? What a fortunate coincident.

I closed my eyes again, dived into dreamland.

I didn’t notice for how long; I fell asleep. But, the surrounding sound suddenly turned into some racket noises. I could hear chatter everywhere, but I was still sleepy in the end.

DONG!

What! What noise was that?

“His Majesty, King Euaristos Surya Taner with Queen Fioralba has arrived!”

“His Highness, Crown Prince Archelaos Taner has arrived!”

And so, on so many names, and important figures in a kingdom has arrived.

I guessed I won’t able to fall asleep again.
